Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to all!

Dixi and I have been searching for a new place to live, as we are tired of this apartment. It's a bit too small for us and we just want something nicer with a few more amenities. We've been looking for the past month and aren't having as much luck as we would have liked. With everyone seeming to be moving to the Austin area, rents have skyrocketed. And finding something that will actually be available is bordering on ridiculous. We were hoping to move closer in to where Dixi's office is, but it's starting to look like we'll wind up moving further out! Add in the factor of having had a major hiccup with our credit a couple years ago is making it even worse. But I'm sure we will find something.

Randy "Macho Man" Savage #ripmachoman

We're not big fans of wrestling in general, although Dixi does tend get a bit more talkative whenever she sees The Rock or John Cena on TV. I don't have alot of memories of Randy "Macho Man" Savage, but it's still sad to hear of someone passing away as young as he was.

Just Because I Find It Funny!

I know this was posted because a staffer confused a personal account with the actual Secret Service account, but there will always be a part of me that wonders if that's true.

Disney Designed the Royal Wedding

I'm thinking the dress designer was a Disney fan.

Statesman Auto Show

The Austin American Statesman, the local newspaper, put on a car show this past weekend at the Austin Convention Center. Naturally, Dixi and I attended. Here are a few pictures and be sure to check the car show page for more.

3 @Postcrossing Postcards

We were out and about this past weekend so didn't get around to checking the mail until today. But it turned out the be a wonderful trip to the mailbox with 3 postcards through Postcrossing.

The first card came from Canada and features a wood carving of Tecumseh. The second postcard is from Vilnius, Lithuania and shows a view of the Vilnius University courtyard and St. John's Church. The third postcard is of Mt. Ranier at Mt. Ranier National Park in Washington.

Anniversary & @Postcrossing Postcards

Dixi and I received 3 postcards in the mail yesterday. The first one was from one of our oldest and closest friends. The other two were via Postcrossing.

From 10th Anniversary

This card came through Postcrossing and, in part, reads:
Happy 10th Anniversary!
Please consider Iowa for your next romantic get-away. Ok - maybe not. Pigs and corn are more 5th anniversary if you ask me. Hold out for Hawaii Dixi!

From PostCrossing

This card also came through Postcrossing and was mailed on April 20, 2011. Kiron, the sender, also used glow in the dark stamps!

Osama Bin Laden Dead

We awoke this morning to the clock radio and the news that Bin Laden has been killed.

I can remember exactly where Dixi and I were on that morning almost 10 years ago. I can remember what we were doing. I can remember things we said, word for word. It has to be one of the most surreal moments of my life.

I'm glad it's done. I'm glad he's dead. I'm a bit saddened that it took 10 years, but better late than never. I think this first tweet from @seankent sums up my feelings perfectly. The others I thought were worth mentioning.
