Modern Mopar Car Club Show

We got to go to another car show today. This one was hosted by the Capital City Modern Mopar Club here in Austin.

Here's a couple of pictures of some of the vehicles. As always, I've added all the pictures I took today to the Car Show page. Enjoy!

10th Annual Lonestar Rod & Kustom Roundup

This weekend Dixi and I went to the 10th Annual Lonestar Roundup at the Travis County Expo Center. We spent at least 5 hours wandering around admiring the 100's of cars and trucks on display.

We got to see Jesse James pulling into the show and hanging out with his folks from the Austin Speed Shop.

This had to be one of the wildest ideas I've seen for a Nash Metropolitan in a long time.

I think this was my personal favorite from the show today. Just beautiful.

We Made The News

Well. Sorta.

I was taking Dixi to work this morning and we were headed south on Lamar. Across from the Thirsty I Lounge is a body shop called Guicho's Body Shop. There were a couple of fire trucks in the north bound lanes putting out a car fire. We pulled over and got a couple of pictures and sent one to KXAN. They posted the picture along with a story about the car fire. You can read the story here.

The Swagger Wagon

Ummm. Yeah. Swagger Wagon. Uh-huh.

Dixi and I are car people. Always have been. We've owned some pretty nice vehicles over the years. She's driven a New Beetle Convertible. A 4 wheel drive Suburban, lifted up with off road wheels and tires, Ranch Hand brushguard, and dual exhaust. A Jaguar XJ6. We've added our own touches to these vehicles. We go to car shows whenever we find one. We will interrupt each other to point out a car no matter where we are at or what the topic is. It's part of who we are and just one of the many things we have in common.

But no matter how you package it, a minivan is a minivan is a minivan. No way will they ever be hip or cool.

Even when they're being advertised like this.

But it is fun to watch.
